Vice President of University Advancement Search

San Francisco State University, a comprehensive public university and iconic campus of the California State University system located in the heart of San Francisco, seeks an energetic, collaborative and experienced fundraising professional to serve as the next vice president of University Advancement and president of the SF State Foundation (vice president). The vice president will join SF State at a pivotal moment in its history as it nears the end of its successful first comprehensive campaign. This is an exceptional opportunity for a high-performing and accomplished individual to partner with President Lynn Mahoney early in her tenure to build on this critical momentum and advance the University. This search is a top priority for President Mahoney and the institution; an appointment is anticipated in early spring 2020.

Meaghan Hogan

Former Vice Dean — Institutional Advancement

University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine

Meaghan Hogan is a senior advancement professional with over 15 years of experience and a demonstrated track record of launching new programs, driving fundraising results, building new donor relationships and increasing alumni engagement. As vice dean of institutional advancement at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, she led her team to raise $14 million in commitments within 11 months (personally raising more than $3 million in outright and deferred gifts) and identified more than 1,000 new prospective principal/major gift donors projected to raise $500,000 in incremental funding within the next three years. In her role as associate vice president of principal gifts at Temple University, she quintupled the size of the university’s principal gifts program to $48 million, more than doubled annual fundraising for the College of Liberal Arts to more than $4 million and helped win the school’s first Keck Foundation grant of $1.2 million. Outside of higher education, as a senior wealth planner at PNC, Hogan spearheaded the philanthropic planning practice assisting private wealth clients in the philanthropic decision-making process and forged a new $2.5 million client relationship. Hogan earned her bachelor of arts degree in English from Vassar College, her juris doctor from Emory University and her master of laws in taxation from Temple University.

Jeff Jackanicz

Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Mills College

Jeff Jackanicz serves as the vice president for institutional advancement at Mills College in Oakland, California. In this role, Jackanicz is responsible for leading all aspects of the college’s advancement efforts in support of its exceptional and historical commitments to academic excellence, women’s education and social justice. Prior to coming to Mills, Jackanicz spent over a decade at University of California, Berkeley in a range of development leadership positions, most recently as the executive director of corporate and foundation relations and leadership gifts. In his time at UC Berkeley, he gained and demonstrated significant skill in staffing campus leadership at the highest levels, leading a dynamic and successful team, and successfully securing major and principal gifts on behalf of the university. Prior to UC Berkeley, Jackanicz dedicated his skills to education in various forms, including earning his Ph.D. in English at the University of Texas in Austin. Jackanicz earned his B.A. from the University of Chicago. He and his husband have lived in Oakland for the past 20 years and have a daughter who is a sophomore in college.
