Alison Kleaver

Alison N. Kleaver joined the California State University's Office of the General Counsel in February 2017. Alison is the University Counsel for Humboldt State University and a member of the Human Resources team. She is also the resource attorney for immigration, Family Medical Leave Act and employee discipline.

Before joining the CSU, Alison was an associate with Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, where was a member of the business trials practice group and the Latin America team. At Sheppard, Alison represented clients in a variety of business disputes, with a specialty in complex environmental and toxic torts claims. Alison also advised and counseled clients on environmental matters, including regulatory and permitting matters, and compliance with federal and state air quality and hazardous waste laws. Alison co-chaired the Women Lawyers Group at Sheppard and served as a member of the recruiting and technology committees. In addition to her work at Sheppard, Alison taught as an adjunct professor at Southwestern Law School and served as an Associates Committee Representative for the United States Law Firm Group, Environmental Section. Alison is admitted to practice law in California and the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Northern Districts of California.
